After Obama India invites French President to be chief guest at Republic Day ceremony

NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – While Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi keeps making weeks long trips worldwide to get attention of investors, New Delhi has invited French President Francoise Hollande to become chief guest at Republic Day ceremony in 2016.

Earlier this year United States President Barack Obama was appeared at the central Republic Day event along wife Mitchell Obama, while in 2008 French President Nicolas Sarkozy was chief guest of celebrations.

Indian media reports, which claimed that French President Francoise Hollande has accepted the invitation, further added that India and France are expected to witness a breakthrough in arms deals including long-halted purchase of Rafale jets.

The development comes just a week after the French capital Paris came under terrorist attacks which left over 130 people dead and another over 300 were injured.

President Hollande was also present inside Sate de France where two suicide bombers detonated themselves just outside the stadium, while a friendly match between France and Germany was underway.
