PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – A bomb threat delayed a Dubai-bound flight, which later proved to be a false scare, a senior Pakistani Civil Aviation (CAA) official told local media on Monday.
CAA officials told that around 150 passengers were offloaded from Shaheen Airline NL-786 at Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) Peshawar when Airport authority received a call about a bomb that was planted inside the plane.
“An emergency was declared on the flight which was scheduled to depart from Peshawar at 2:30 pm and flight was cleared for take-off after a detailed search of aircraft, passengers and their luggage by Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials”, official said.
Pervez George, a spokesman for the CAA, told: “We received a call that there was a bomb on the plane. All the passengers were evacuated and all of the luggage was offloaded”.
“We did not want to risk anyone’s life. We stopped the plane from taking off and there are security checks taking place, but we have not found a bomb on board”.
The flight took off at 5pm for its original destination.
