MIRGU (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has emphasized devising a joint strategy at international level to effectively deal with terrorism in the world.
He expressed these views at the Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting’s retreat session devoted to “Violent Extremism and Radicalization” in Mirgu, Malta, on Saturday.
He conveyed Pakistan’s strong condemnation of terrorist activities in all its forms and manifestations. The Prime Minister said Pakistan is cooperating with international community to deal with militancy. It also fully implemented the UN Security Council sanctions regime.
He said Pakistan launched a full-fledged operation against terrorists two years ago, and the back of the terrorists has been broken.
Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan has sacrificed over fifty thousand lives in the war against terror. There is no reason to target innocent people in terrorist attacks.
He expressed support for international efforts to counter the threats posed by Islamic State and to deal with the phenomenon of foreign terrorists.
During the session, the leaders shared views on promoting global partnerships between the Commonwealth and other like-minded organizations pursuing similar agendas.
They stressed upon the states to invest in preventive measures to protect their citizens from threat of violence extremism.
