IOK Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed dies at 79

SRINAGAR (Staff Report) – The chief minister of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) Mufti Mohammed Sayeed Thursday died at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi where he was being treated for lungs infection last two weeks.

Mufti, 79, founded Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party in July 1999 to persuade the Government of India to initiate an unconditional dialogue with Kashmiris for resolution of the Kashmir issue.

Following the historic victory in 2015 elections Mufti Sayeed was elected as Chief Minister of coalition government of PDP and BJP.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Parnab Mukherjee expressed deep grief on his death.

According to Indian media reports Mahbooba Muft, who is daughter of Mufti Sayeed and President of PDP, is expected to replace his father as Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister.
