KARACHI (Web Desk) – Eleven people were wounded when a blast struck outside a hotel in Orangi Town in sprawling Karachi Saturday evening, media reports said.
According to police officials, one person, identified as Shakeel Siddiqui, was killed in the explosion and at least 11 others wounded, among them Muttahida Qaumi Movement workers.
Hospital sources said six of the wounded, including a minor girl, were in serious condition.
Police officials said the explosive device had been concealed under a wooden cart. Officials of the Bomb Disposal Squad said one kilogramme of explosive material was used in the bomb that also contained ball-bearings and bolts.
Markets and shops were closed immediately after the explosion. Security officials and rescuers rushed to the crime site.
The area was cordoned off by security officials.
