KARACHI (Staff Report) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Friday performed groundbreaking of the Green Line Bus Transport System in Karachi .
The Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System, which estimated to be completed in one year, would benefit nearly 300,000 passengers everyday. Federal government is spending Rs16,085 million on the project.

The Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System is a significant milestone in upgrading and decongesting the overburdened transport infrastructure of Karachi.
The project starts from Surjani Town and ends at Municipal Park, M.A. Jinnah Road Karachi.
Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited (KIDCL) has also been incorporated under a Board of Directors to take all decisions independently for planning and implementation of the Project.
Earlier upon his arrival in Karachi, the premier was received was Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad and Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.
Afterwards the Prime Minister also chaired a top level meeting in Governor House where he was briefed about the overall law and order situation in Sindh province.
The meeting was attended amongst others by Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Director General Rangers Sindh Maj. General Bilal Akbar. Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid was also present on the occasion.
