SHARJAH (PR) – A new award called the Jawaher Medal of Honour has been launched in recognition of people who have contributed to humanitarian issues affecting people worldwide.
The medal was launched by Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. Shaikha Jawaher is the chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
The medal will be presented every year to an outstanding personality who has made a mark locally and internationally.
“There are many people who have worked tirelessly to improve and protect people’s lives — those who have strived to tackle human challenges that need to be addressed immediately in order to save victims of life-threatening crises, and enable them to lead a dignified life,” said Shaikha Jawaher.
She explained that serving society and lending a helping hand to people in need is a religious and moral duty. “This medal will be awarded to inspirational people who have made a genuine difference to people’s lives. This award is to appreciate human values and the change one can make in someone’s life through simple and consistent efforts,” she said.
Shaikha Jawaher also pointed out that the medal is not limited to people in particular countries, but will be given every year to any person in the world that has helped improve the lives of people in need and enabled them to live with dignity.
