PM Nawaz vows to amend Punjab Women Protection Bill: JUI-F chief

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has promised to amend the “Protection of Women against violence Bill 2015”, so that it does not contradict with the Quran and Sunnah.

Speaking to the media after the meeting at the Prime Minister’s Raiwand residence on Monday, the JUI-F chief said Nawaz Sharif had promised to addressed his reservations and make amendments to a legislation against domestic violence passed by the Punjab Assembly last month.

Punjab Assembly had passed Protection of Women against violence Bill 2015, making all crimes against the women an offence including domestic violence, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, verbal abuse, stalking, abetment of an offence, and cyber crimes.
