Modi fumes over UN for poor counter-terror role

BRUSSELS (Web Desk) – In the wake of recent terrorist attacks in Brussels, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has criticised United Nations for its poor performance to counter the menace.

“United Nations badly failed to fight terrorism despite having all due powers, and unfortunately UN doesn’t even know the definition of terrorism,” he said while addressing Indian community in Belgium’s capital city which witnessed deadly blasts a week ago.

He went on to say that United Nations has failed to take action against the states who protect terrorists, although many resolutions have been tabled at the global forum. Terrorism must detached from religion as it is crime against humanity and world leaders now need to take serious steps to combat it, he added.

On the occasion, he also criticised developed nations for ignoring the acts of terrorism for long time, saying that whole world was jolted after 9/11 attacks but till then they did not understand what India was going through for forty years.
