ISLAMABAD (APP) – Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, arrived here Monday on a two-day visit to Pakistan on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The Emir was accompanied by a high-level delegation including cabinet ministers, Chairman of Qatar Airways and senior government officials.
Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani had visited Pakistan in 2010 in his capacity as Crown Prince of Qatar, to offer financial assistance of Rs 400 million for the people affected by floods.
Pakistan and Qatar enjoy close and brotherly relations. During the visit, the Emir will meet President Mamnoon Hussain and the Prime Minister.
Both sides will discuss ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields including energy, investment, trade, defence and manpower. Regional and global issues of mutual interest and concern will also be discussed.
Qatar is home to more than 100,000 Pakistanis. Their remittances are making a valuable contribution to the socio-economic development of Pakistan.
The official visit of the Emir of Qatar will provide fresh impetus to bilateral relations. Agreements to be signed during the visit will further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation existing between the two countries in various fields.
