Army Chief pays tribute to Operation Zarb-e-Azb war heroes

RAWALPINDI (Web Desk) – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif visited the Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology on Wednesday and met wounded warriors of Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

He paid tribute to their sacrifices and said the country would never give up and quit in the fight against militancy.

The Army Chief was informed that a total of 179 soldiers had lost their eyesight completely or partially due to IED blasts. He was told that, at present, 56 of them were undergoing treatments in the Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology.

General Raheel Sharif was given a detailed briefing on the state-of-the-art Visual Rehabilitation Center, which was being piloted for visually disabled soldiers.
