Heavy rain turns weather pleasant in Punjab, KPK

LAHORE (Staff Report) – Most cities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa enjoyed a break from the sweltering heat after heavy rain hit the northern parts of the country on Wednesday morning.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain-thundershowers were witnessed in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad and Kasur districts of Punjab and Malakand, Hazara, Kohat, Mardan and Peshawar divisions of KP.

Rain also fell continuously in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan for several hours.

Isolated rainfall and strong gusty wind were recorded at some locations in DI Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Quetta, Zhob, Sibi and Larkana divisions as well.

Meanwhile, there are reports of electricity tripping in almost every city which experienced rain this morning. WAPDA officials are taking steps to restore electricity in all the affected areas.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Water and Waste Management Authority to take immediate and extraordinary measures to restore normal life in water logged areas of all major cities.

The temperature of some major cities recorded on Wednesday morning:

Islamabad 33 degree centigrade, Lahore and Peshawar 26, Karachi 29, Quetta and Murree 19, Gilgit 20 and Muzaffarabad 21 degree centigrade.
