Pakistan out for political solution to Yemen conflict

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Pakistan has exhorted international community and humanitarian agencies to help find a political solution to the ongoing conflict in Yemen.

A statement released by the Prime Minister’s House said Pakistan remains firmly committed to supporting sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Pakistan.

In the statement, Pakistan called upon the United Nations and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to play a constructive role, asserting its commitment to a meaningful role for resolution of the crisis in the Middle East.

The official request came at a high-level meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and attended by army chief General Raheel Sharif, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, ISI chief Rizwan Akhtar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and prime minister’s advisor Sartaj Aziz.

To achieve that objective and to promote peace and unity in the Muslim Ummah, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be contacting leaders of brotherly countries.
