SMS service introduced as part of NADRA s CNIC verification drive

ISLAMABAD: A Short Messaging Service (SMS) number has been introduced for registered Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) holders to check who is registered under the same family tree.

In case of family tree issues, the public has been advised to report to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) so that the authority can take appropriate action.

NADRA has started sending SMS messages to family heads regarding the procedure, however, one can still check status even if he/she is not head of the family. The re-verification drive will officially start from July 1.

The Authority on Monday said that to reissue and verify identity documents citizens could send their CNIC number (with or without dashes) to 8008 and in return obtain a list of names of all registered persons in the family.
