MQM leader Izhar Ahmed held in detention

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Izhar Ahmad has been held in detention in Karachi on Tuesday.

According to media details, Izhar, who is a member of the MQM’s coordination committee and close aide of the party chief Altaf Hussain, went to inquire after another party leader Abdul Haseeb in FB Area Block 6 when Rangers rounded him.

As per MQM’s statement, Izhar had cardiac problems.

Party’s leadership asked the army chief and the Prime Minister to bring the action against what it called unlawful detention.

“Instead of taking action against the security personnel who are behind the extra-judicial killing of our workers, the LEAs are arresting party’s leader and lodging fake cases against them,” the statement read.

Izhar Ahmed, who is also a British home, used to manage the matters of Altaf Hussain’s residence.
