Turkey asks Islamabad to shut down Gulen-run institutions in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Turkish Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin on Friday told journalists in Islamabad that Ankara has asked “all friendly nations to prevent activities of this (Gulen’s) group,” adding that the government had solid proof of Gulen’s affiliates involvement in the failed coup of last week.

Gulen’s network is operating 21 schools and the Rumi Forum in Pakistan along with other business operations as well. These entities have been functioning in Pakistan for decades.

Ambassador Girgin said Ankara was in touch with Pakistani authorities regarding the presence of Gulen’s network in Pakistan.
