JAIPUR (Web Desk) – Indian police arrested a man for hoisting the Pakistani flag atop the roof of his house in Mansarover area on Pakistan’s Independence Day on Sunday.
Kapil Shastri was detained and the flag seized after locals reported he had hoisted the flag, Deccan Chronicle reported.
Police subsequently registered a case against the man under Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Shastri was found responsible for “promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race or residence,” SHO Anil Jaimini said.
“Primary probe reveals the accused is not mentally fit and he picked up the flag few years ago from a slum and brought to his house.”
“His grandfather was a freedom fighter,” Anil Jaimini, SHO said.
He was detained and released. A medical examination of the accused will be conducted tomorrow, he added.
