Treason case demanded against Brahamdagh Bugti

QUETTA: A treason case has been sought against the exiled leader of the outlawed Baloch Republican Party (BRP) Brahamdagh Bugti for his support of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

An application was filed in the City Police station by the Pakistan Workers Party (PWP) Chairman Khudai-e-Dost Kakar who said that Bugti should be tried under Article 6 of the Constitution of Pakistan. He also accused Bugti of facilitating terrorism and anti-state activities in the province.

Bugti, who is the grandson of influential Baloch warlord Nawab Akbar Bugti and is currently in exile in Switzerland, had welcomed Modi’s comments over intervention in Balochistan and thanked him for his support. Bugti urged the international community to play a role just like Libya and Syria.

Huge protests across Balochistan were held in response to these comments where the effigies of Bugti and Modi were burned and slogans were raised in favor of the military and government of Pakistan.
