Met Department predicts more rain in Lahore, other cities

ISLAMABAD (News Desk) – Director General, Meteorological Department of Pakistan Dr Ghulam Rasool on Friday said that the recent rain spell would continue in many parts of the country in the next few days.

Talking to a news channel, he said rain-thunderstorm at scattered places in Lahore, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad divisions is expected during the next twelve hours.

He said rain is also predicted at isolated places of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next twelve hours.

He added that, however, hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

He said Lahore has received 90 mm rain in the provincial capital Lahore so far which has turned the weather pleasant there added that those areas where the rain water was accumulated has been cleared off.

The weather expert said that the monsoon intermittent rains would continue in Lahore for the next week.

In Karachi no rain is predicted in the next few days, but it can continue rain in the last week of this month.

Moreover, the weather experts said that in September two to three spells of rains are expected in the country and the rain series would enter from Lahore to Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw, Sindh and Balochistan.

According to the synoptic situation, low-pressure monsoon currents are penetrating in the country and likely to continue during the next two to three days.
