US decides to free Pakistani prisoner Ahmad Rabbani in Guantanamo

WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – The United States has decided to set free the Pakistani citizen, Ahmad Rabbani, detained at the Guantanamo Bay on September 1.

Muhammad Ahmad Rabbani was arrested from Karachi in2002 and handed over to the United States.

According to media reports, Ahmad Rabbani used to drive taxi for a living in Karachi. Owing to his command over Arabic, Ahmad was mistaken as a Yemeni citizen. There were serious allegations of links with Al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden against Ahmad.

A few years back, Ahmad Rabbani also observed hunger strike in Guantanamo Prison and was cleared of all allegations charged against him after 14 years.
