Unofficial results: PPP wins PS-127 by-polls

KARACHI (Web Desk) –  Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate has secured Sindh Assembly seat PS-127 on Thursday with incidents of violence reported during polling and nine people also being detained.

The unofficial and unconfirmed results of 131 out of 134 polling stations show PPP candidate Ghulam Murtaza Baloch bagging 21,214 votes, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s Waseem Ahmed could only manage 15,422 votes.

According to the details, multiple incidents of violence were reported in the by-elections as two locals were injured amid a gun fire. Rangers officials tried to calm down the situation in different areas of the city.

Moreover, An MQM camp at Malir Jaffar Tayyar Ghazi Chowk was ransacked reportedly by opposition party workers. An enraged mob also beat up a man, who the police later detained in an injured condition.

Clashes between Workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement- Pakistan and Mohajir Qaumi Movement- Haqiqi were also reported at Urdu Nagar.

In the Saudabad area, a worker on a political party let his motorcycle and fled when police tried to stop him. Police officials said they have also seized 13 motorcycles.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner has complained about incidents of violence in PS-127. The incidents of violence are keeping MQM away from voting. Police is not registering cases against the violence,” the letter states.
