Pakistan bags victory in opening T20 against Windies

DUBAI (Web Desk) – Pakistani cricket team outshined West Indies in their first T20 tussle after Left-arm spinner Imad Waseem turned the table by a decisive spell bowling out five for 14.

Sarfraz after winning the toss opted to bowl. Batting first West Indies managed to make 115 in 19.5 overs, an unexpected total considering giants in the side. The sporadic blows to the opponents by spinner Imad Waseem helped Pakistan restrict the side to an easy target.

The only resistance was shown by Dwayne Bravo  who hit a gritty 54-ball 55 to avoid a total disaster adding a new world record Twenty20 stand of 66 runs for the ninth wicket with Jerome Taylor who contributed 21.

Pakistan had lost opener Sharjeel Khan for 22 in the fourth over but Babar Zaman (55) and Khalid Latif (34) ensured Pakistan chased down the target in 14.2 overs.

The second match will also be played in Dubai on Saturday (today) while the third is in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
