World Bank pays tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi

WASHINGTON (Web Desk) –  World Bank paid a rich tribute to celebrated Pakistani philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi during a ceremony in Washington here on Tuesday.

applauding the efforts of Edhi, World Bank’s Vice President for the South Asia Region Annette Dixon, said that the social worker was an example for the whole world and it was necessary to carry his mission forward.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani expressed that Edhi did not borrow a single penny from the government or any other non-government organization for his social work.

Ex-governor of State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Ishrat Hussain also paid tribute to the renowned social worker adding that he served the people without ethnic or religious discrimination and his services would not be forgotten.

Abdul Sattar Edhi breathed in last on 8th July this year due to protracted illness. He was given a state funeral where a large number of people flocked to pay homage to the humanitarian.
