KARACHI – Pakistan’s professional footballer Shahlyla Baloch passed away in a tragic car accident Wednesday night in Karachi.
Initial reports suggest the deceased was in the passenger seat at the time of the accident.
Baloch was sitting in the passenger seat when the accident occurred in Karachi’s DHA Phase VIII area, Express Tribune reported.
“she was travelling in the passenger seat, and the car slid,” the family member further added.
Baloch was considered to be one of the finest strikers for Pakistan women’s football team. She represented the country at the South Asian Football Federation Women Football Championship 2014 in Islamabad, which was the last international event that Pakistan women’s team competed in.
“She represented Pakistan and was a role model for many girls. Today Shahlyla Baloch died in a car accident. What a shocking news,” FootballPakistan.Com (FPDC) wrote on their Facebook page.
“All our condolences to her family,” it added.
Dubbed as the first female to score a hat-trick at the international level, she was a mere 20 years old at the time of her demise.
