PML-N s intra party elections to be held on Tuesday in Islamabad

LAHORE – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) intra-party election will be held on Tuesday in Islamabad. Chairman PML-N Election Commission Chaudhry Jaffar Iqbal received nomination papers on today (Monday).

The nomination papers will be scrutinised from 9am to 10am and polling will start form 11am. The PML-N General Council Session will take place at Convention Center.

The 1950- member general council will elect central office bearers. The office bearers will be elected for 4 years.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has chaired a political meeting to consult PML-N central leadership about the upcoming central elections, reported Radio Pakistan.

Senior leadership apprised the PML-N about the arrangements and details of the party convention to be held on Tuesday.

Meeting was attended by Chief Minister Punjab, Finance Minister, Interior Minister, Planning Minister, Defence Minister, Information Minister, State Minister IT Anusha Rehman and Dr Asif Kirmani.

Senior leaders, led by Sartaj Aziz will submit nomination papers of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the slot of party president.

Party leaders Pervaiz Rashid, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Anusha Rehman, Dr Asif Kirmani, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry will be amongst the party leaders who will file Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers to the party Election Commissioner Chaudhry Jaffer Iqbal.

Later talking to media, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that election will be held for ten posts including Central President, Chairman, six Senior Vice Presidents, Secretary Information and Secretary Finance. He said that these representatives will then appoint other representatives.

He said that Chaudhary Jaffar Iqbal has been unanimously appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner for the conduct of the elections. He said four members have also been appointed from all the provinces.

To a question, Saad Rafique said that Imran Khan wants to disrupt the democratic system. He said those making calls for protests and sit-ins are not well wishers of the country.

He said that in past the sit-in in Islamabad caused huge financial loss to the country. He said Imran Khan is the slave of his dreams and his vision has been fully exposed.
