Gen Raheel rushes to Quetta after attack on police training centre

QUETTA- Chief of Army staff General Raheel Sharif has reached Quetta after the deadly attack on police training centre, left 59 personnel dead here on Tuesday.

Senior military and intelligence officers are also accompanying COAS during Quetta visit. The COAS visit at the critical time is important as he would be holding sensitive meetings in the aftermath of deadly Quetta carnage.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would also be reaching Balochistan’s provincial capital in a short while. The Premier has cancelled his routine engagements to visit Quetta.

According to a press statement, PM Nawaz expressed concerns over the attack and directed the federal and provincial security agencies to bring the perpetrators to task.

 PM directed the interior ministry and Balochistan government to keep him informed on the developments of the incident.

At least 59 security personnel have been martyred and 45 other people including recruits have been wounded as terrorists attacked Police training centre at Syriab road area Quetta.

 Two terrorists have been killed and 200 police recruits freed in the attack, Balochistan Home Minister, Sarfraz Bugti confirmed.

According to media details, terrorists held hostage police personnel while firing between terrorists and security forces being continued.
