ECP to hear Imran Khan’s disqualification reference

ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will be hearing a reference on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s disqualification on November 2nd.

The reference was filed by Muhammad Talal Chaudhry and six other MNAs seeking disqualification of Imran Khan as MNA under Clause 2 of Article 63 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973.

ECP had earlier issued a notice to Imran Khan to appear before the commission in person or through counsel on November 2 at 10 am at its secretariat in Islamabad in connection with reference for his disqualification as Member of the National Assembly (MNA).

The notice stipulates that in case Imran Khan fails to comply, the verdict would be decided in his absence. As the proceedings were time bound, the respondent was directed to furnish reply also on the date fixed, it added.
