PESHAWAR – The Annual Convocation of University of Peshawar on Wednesday turned embarrassing for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PK) Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, who is also its Chancellor when a student refused to accept the best graduate degree from him.
Nabi Shah told the governor his conscious would not allow him to accept the degree as his friends could not attend the ceremony due to the closure of roads.
“I told the Governor that I cannot receive the medals and certificate as a lot of my fellow students can’t attend the convocation due to the road blockade . To this, The VC of the varsity asked me to go away,” Shah told Daily Pakistan after coming down from the convocation dais.
The student said he would be accepting his degree from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in Bani Gala.
The PML-N backed governor was the chief guest at the convocation of the university.
The federal govt, to prevent PTI’s workers from attending Islamabad sit-in , had blocked the roads and motorways leading from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad on November 2.
