NA-246 election: Rangers arrest two presiding officers, fake voter

KARACHI (Staff Report) – Sindh Rangers have arrested two presiding officers and a fake voter from two polling stations in the NA-246 by-polls in Karachi.

According to sources, Presiding Officer Syed Majid Ali at Delhi College in Karimabad was caught red-handed for letting a fake voter, Rehan, cast votes in favour of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI).

Separately, Assistant Presiding Officer Shah Sultana was held from a Ghareebabad polling station for allegedly handing voting stamp to an unknown person. She is in Rangers’ custody.

Rangers, enjoying power of a special magistrate, have taken them into custody. They can be awarded three-month imprisonment along with heavy fine.

Officials said it was still to be ascertained about political affiliation of the arrested people.
