Congratulations to Pakistan’s pride: Imran Qureshi.
This Pakistani artist has just been awarded the US Department of State International Medal of Arts. According to sources, Qureshi will be receiving his award during a ceremony which will take place in Washington DC on January 12, 2017.
Imran, along with a few other artists will be handed the award. However he is the ONLY Pakistani to receive this award in 2017 as of now.
Lahore-based Qureshi is now known throughout the world for his beautiful paintings which depict repetition of decorative motifs.
Qureshi combines fauna, flora with body parts and calligraphy to finish his paintings.
He introduced blood red paintings after bombings in his home city of Lahore, which show contrasting work between beauty and violence, side by side.
