DP: Tell us a little something about yourself. Who is Mohsin and how did he venture into the fashion business?

I am a learner, trying to put my best foot forward by doing some quality work. I have a business background. My family has been running a textile business since ages. For me running my family business was quite boring as I had different plans for myself. After doing my bachelors in fashion and textile, I worked for 3 months and later decided to start my own line with the name “MNR Design Studio”.

DP: How difficult is it for designers to enter the field and be recognized as ‘exceptional’ for their work, knowing the saturation in fashion in Pakistan at the moment?

Well popularity always comes with a price. To earn money and get fame is not an easy job. One has to face a lot of issues in order to climb the ladder of success. I consider myself lucky as I am following what I am best at. I believe that the real test lies in testing yourself in critical situations and passing out with flying colors. It is true that to enter a field which is already known by best people requires utter hard work and determination, but then again that’s what I am here to do.

I am based in Gujranwala and I faced, and in fact I am still facing, more difficulties compared to designers who are based in Lahore or Karachi but I would like to add on the fact that I am enjoying my ride so far. I am embracing the challenges with open arms. I believe if you are sincere with your work success will definitely follow you.

DP: How would you describe your latest collection, keeping in view the positive reviews you had of your recent showcasing at the Hum Bridal Couture Week?

Inspired by Victorian architecture and historic styles ‘Chaap Tilak’ is a beautiful blend of Middle East and Asian influences; reflecting intricate and alluring designs with detailed motives and floral impressions. Incorporating Mughal flora and fauna this collection offers illustrated comprehensive examinations including western cuts and detailed embellishments.

Furthermore, the indulging JURAO jewelry making technique and captivating color palette of compelling shades maroon, realist beige and aqueduct makes this collection one of its kind.

DP: What is on your fashion table for the future: is MNR going to have a lawn or casual wear collection?

A lot of work is lined up for now. I am working on my bridal collection and will soon introduce my luxury prêt line in S/S-17.

DP: Can we expect an MNR studio in Lahore or Karachi any time soon?

Absolutely, we are quite eager to open our studio in Lahore (June-July) next year, InshaAllah!
