KARACHI – The price of sugar has been increased from Rs 59 to Rs 62 per kg in the wholesale market.
Ministry of Industries and Production announced in a meeting with Economic Coordination Committee that sugar mills held 12, 30,000-ton sugar reserves till December 15, 2016, which are enough to meet the demand of 400,000 tonne per month until February 5, 2017.
In this briefing, EEC had allowed the export of 2.5 lac tonne sugar but this has impacted the wholesale market amid reports that sugar prices have gone up from Rs 59 per kilogramme to Rs 62 per kilogramme.-Online
