US First Lady Melania Trump turns 47

WASHINGTON – First Lady of United States (FLOTUS) Melania Trump celebrated her 47th birthday Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

The first lady received well wishes from husband and President Donald Trump before attending a luncheon at the National Gallery of Art.

President Trump shared a photo of himself and Melania from his presidential inauguration ceremony in January that read, “Happy Birthday to our First Lady, Melania!”

Melania, who resides in New York, was joined by second lady Karen Pence and other Trump administration spouses at the luncheon.

Melania Trump (born Melanija Knavs), was born in Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia), became a permanent resident of the United States in 2001, and obtained U.S. citizenship in 2006. Prior to marrying Donald Trump, she worked as a model; by 2016 she considered herself a “full-time mom”.

Melania is the second foreign-born First Lady of the United States, following Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams.
