MQM asks Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad to step down

KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has asked Dr Ishratul Ebad to step down as Sindh Governor here on Monday.

During a press conference, Dr farooq Sattar and other Rabta committee members at Khursheed Begum Secretariat asked the Governor Ishratul Ibad to resign from office.

Ebad has no authority and power, that is why it’s best for him to resign, Farooq said.

The MQM leader said initially Sindh governor played an important role for the well-being of the people of the province.

The killings of MQM supporters and workers began after Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) formed government in 2008, he said, adding that the Sindh governor failed to stop the killings.

Sattar said the MQM extended unconditional support to the targeted operation launched against criminal elements in Karachi.

But, he added Muhajir-dominated localities were being raided in the name of the operation.

“Those who slaughtered our children have been roaming around freely inside and outside the country, the MQM leader added.

A few days ago, enraged MQM chief Altaf Hussain announced Ebad did not have any affiliation with the MQM, and should not be considered a part of the party.
