All you aspiring Qawalls: A Qawalli workshop is being held at NAPA on July 9

To explore the genre of Qawalli properly, a workshop has been scheduled at the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), on July 9 at 07:00 pm.

The event was earlier announced by Ustad Nafees Ahmad at a press conference on Thursday.

Ally Adnan, a writer who has written extensively for different publications on Classical Music, theory & culture & the practice of music in India/Pakistan, will also be present at the event.

The workshop will be covering the following topics:

  • Different forms of Qawalli
  • Ameer Khusrau’s contributions to music
  • Etiquettes involved in Qawalli
  • Different families contributing to Qawalli over generations

The workshop is supposed to be a step towards making the genre of Qawalli easier to understand for the average person.

Good luck, NAPA!
