ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday decided to slash electricity tariff by Rs1.70 per unit for July 2017 in order to adjust for cheaper fuel prices in the international market.
The rates have been revised due to fuel adjustments under the month of July, according to Nepra.
The new rates will not be applicable to the consumers of K-Electric (KE).
The cost of energy production for the month of July was Rs. 4.78 per unit while the consumers had to pay Rs. 6.49 per unit in the electricity bills for June.
The reduction in actual generation cost was mainly because of a dip in global oil prices and better energy mix.
