Groom booked for deceiving wife in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR – Police have booked a man for allegedly deceiving and looting his wife, and fleeing away with his family, leaving her alone in Bahawalpur.

In a video message circulating on social media, the victim named Huma claimed that her groom had deserted her after the marriage and also stolen her belongings.

As per reports, Huma had held the court marriage with a man, Sikandar, who later brought her to a rented house in Cheema Town. After marriage, the Sikandar and his family escaped and got away with cash, laptop and other household items.

Following the incident, the family of the girl reached a police station in the city to register the case, which has been registered.

In the video message, the girl revealed that she used to go to learn music from Sikandar when he proposed to her. “I talk to my family, who agreed, but Sikandar’s parents were not accepting it,” she added.

“After one-and-half-year long wait, he took me to a local mosque where a qari administered our Nikah in presence of a child,” she said, adding that there was no documentation regarding it.

Later, the man disappeared and denied accepting the marriage, she said, adding that Sikandar came into contact with her after some time. Then, they both had a court marriage.

Meanwhile, the accused has also shared a video message on Facebook rejecting the allegations levelleved by Huma.
