Boy set on fire over mobile theft allegation in Lahore

LAHORE – A young man on Saturday was beaten and set on fire in Lahore by two vigilantes after he was accused of stealing a mobile phone.

According to local media, the incident took place in Nawab Town, an area of the city, where the accused persons allegedly beat the young boy, identified as Arshad, and then set him on fire after pouring kerosene oil.

After the incident, local people came forward to douse the fire and shifted the 19-year-old victim to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment.

It is reported that both suspects are brothers, who have escaped from the scene after the brutal incident.

According to the police, the accused named Jahangir and Munna had a dispute with the victim. Further investigation in the case has been launched.
