US Dollars, Saudi Riyals showered in extravagant Pakistani wedding ceremony

KHANPUR – A Pakistani wedding ceremony splashed across headlines on national media due to its lavishness as the event was taken to a whole new level by the friends of the groom who showered US Dollars and Saudi Riyals on locals in Khanpur city of Punjab.

The nuptial ceremony organised on Sunday became the talk of the town when it was observed that instead of distributing local currency notes as part of local ‘Vail’ ritual, the affluent associates of groom Muhammad Arshad distributed US Dollars and Saudi currency Riyal among the citizens of Khanpur as soon as they entered the city.

A few of them also received box-packed mobile phones, a harbinger of the disparity between the different classes of the society.

The groom whose source of income is yet to be revealed hails from Shujabad and it is highly likely that he would be receiving a notice from Federal Bureau of Revenue inquiring about his money trail.

Earlier, in March, a groom who wore 50 tola gold sehra(traditional headdress for grooms) and invited around 15,000 guests was served a notice by the tax regulator to file tax details.

Moreover, in September, a groom used a helicopter to jet off to Sheikhupura as part of his wedding ceremony, though he did not come under the radar of revenue watchdog.
