MUMBAI – After facing much controversy at the hands of Hindu extremist groups along with violent death threats to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone, film “Padmavat” has finally been issued a U/A certificate for a release on January 25.
A source from Viacom18 Motion Pictures told, ‘It (Padmavati) will release as Padmavat on January 25. The film has got U/A certificate.”
‘Padmavat’ was earlier slated for a release of December 1, but got in a clash with Rejput community group Karni Sena over the claims of distorting historical facts.
But there is something else. With its new release date, ‘Padmavat’ is clashing with Akshay Kumar’s film ‘PadMan’ (based on Padmashri Arunachalam Muruganatham, who revolutionized the sanitary napkin in India by manufacturing it on a low cost).
