ISLAMABAD – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday granted bail to three leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in SSP Junejo, PTV and Parliament attack cases and breaching Loudspeaker Act during the 2014 sit-ins.
After PTI chief Imran Khan secured bail in the same cases, others suspects — Asad Umer, Shireen Mazari, And Arif Alvi — appeared before the court seeking bail.
ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand granted bail to the PTI leaders against a surety of Rs100,000 each in the cases.
In August 2014, a clash erupted between police and protesters in Islamabad when protesters tried to breach the security cordon after the government, PTI and PAT failed to break the deadlock on the resignation of then prime minister Nawaz Sharif
In the clash, three protesters were killed and more than 500 injured including police officials. SSP Junejo was also among the injured.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri has also been declared proclaimed offender in the cases as he did not attend any hearing.
