LAHORE – While the mainstream opposition parties stand united – at least on TV screens – against the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), social media users in Pakistan appear divided as always.
Although Imran Khan has shared the stage before with Dr Tahirul Qadri during Islamabad sit-in when he launched a countrywide protest movement over 2013 electoral fraud, this is going to be the first time Asif Ali Zardari will join top leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) at Lahore’s Mall Road over 2014 Model Town killings. The co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will be accompanied by ex-PM Raja Pervez Ashraf and others.
As the PAT is set to relaunch its protest campaign to “force the PML-N out of power – both in the federal and provincial governments”, a political storm has hit the country’s social media with people sharing hilarious memes of the ‘grand alliance’.

Few took to the social networking sites with some serious words:
We know why PAT and PPP blocking Mall Rd Lahore. We also know why SS is scared on Model Town rally. What we don’t know why is PTI joining hands with Asif Zardari @Muqabil92 @92newschannel 1005 pm

While success or failure of the Lahore Joint Opposition Protest today is of no consequence to PAT from the 2018Gen Elections point of view the PPP & PTI will have a lot at stake for them (from the elections point of view). In my opinion PPP and PTI have made an error of judgement
