QUETTA – At least two personnel of Balochistan police were killed and one injured during firing by unknown assailants in Quetta on Thursday.
Quetta SSP Operations said that the incident took place on Double Road Bridge, an area of Balochistan’s capital.
Following the incident, security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area. The bodies have been shifted to the hospital, while the injured is being provided medical treatment.
It is the third attack carried out in the first eighteen days of New Year. Unknown assailants on Tuesday killed a police constable, in what appeared to be a targeted killing, on Raisani Road in Quetta.
The constable, identified as Naseer Ahmed, was going to office when he was gunned down. However, the attackers escaped from the spot after the attack.
On Jan 9, a strong explosion near rocked the Balochistan capital on Tuesday, killing at least seven people including five police personnel and injuring dozens others.
The blast took place near a police truck parked close to GPO Chowk on Quetta’s Zarghoon Road, located in the city’s high-security Red Zone, around 300 metres from the provincial assembly building. The road also leads to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
