KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Rangers on Monday claimed to have arrested an alleged target killer during a raid in the Mehmoodabad area, the detainee is also said to be involved in the May 12 carnage.
A spokesman for the Rangers said they conducted a targeted raid on a tip about the possible presence of a hardened criminal in Mehmoodabad. During the raid, Abdul Rafique alias Kaein, Mehmoodabad sector in-charge of the MQM-A, was arrested, who during initial interrogation confessed to his involvement in the May 12, 2007 massacre.
The arrested criminal will be presented before the court on Monday (today) with a request for his 90-day detention under relevant laws. An application for setting up a joint interrogation team (JIT) to probe the matter will also be filed with the home department the same day.
