Cop martyred, two dacoits killed in Faisalabad shootout

FAISALABAD – In a tragic turn of events, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Punjab police was martyred amid a police encounter in Faisalabad city of Punjab early Saturday.

According to the details, the contingents of Punjab police arrived at Mohammadpura area of the city after they were informed about the presence of dacoits.

Soon after their arrival, the dacoits tried to flee the scene, however, two dacoits – who snatched batteries from a mobile phone shop – were killed.

On the other hand, the policeman was identified as 50-year-old ASI Shafqat Ali, who lost his life amid an exchange of firing between the suspects and security personnel.

Another cop, ASI Liaquat Ali also sustained severe wounds while one robber was arrested in injured condition who was later shifted to the undisclosed location, Dunya News reported.

According to the investigation officer, the deceased dacoits are yet to be identified.
