LAHORE: On Wednesday, Bilawal Bhutto, PPP chairman made a visit to the residence of Ajoka Theatre founder Madeeha Gohar in order to offer his profound condolences to Gohar’s family. The group also sent out a prayer for the the late actress.
Chairman PPP visited the house on Server Road, Lahore, where he met Gohar’s husband, Shahid Mehmood Nadeem who is a senior playwright along with her her two sons Nirvaan and Saarang. Other members of the meeting included the late actresses brother, his family, and PPP secretary general Chaudhry Manzoor, Asim Bhatti among others.
Bilawal also acknowledged the many contributions Gohar had made to the performing arts industry of Pakistan and appreciated her progressive mindset along with her fiery passion for spreading peace through the arts not just in PAkistan but the world over.
He further added that the veteran stage actress was a “very courageous lady and a champion for human rights”, and applauded her devotion to highlighting socio-political issues through her work.
When he spoke on the platform she once held, Bilawal hoped that the theatre would continue in carrying on the legacy and mission of the late actress and promote it with the same zeal and energy as Gohar intended when she started it 34 years ago.
