SYDNEY (Web Desk) – Pakistan has defeated England in the warm up match by 4 wickets ahead of World Cup 2015. Pakistan achieved the target of 251 in 49th over of the innings.
Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq guided Pakistan to victory against England in the World Cup warm-up match played at the SCG here on Wednesday.
Misbah scored a brilliant 91 off 99 balls while Umar Akmal chipped in with 65 off 66 balls.
England had won the toss and elected to bat first setting a target of 251 for Pakistan. Joseph Root top scored for England smashing 85 off 89 balls in an innings which included five boundaries. Gary Ballance scored 57 off 81 balls.
Yasir Shah was the pick of the Pakistani bowlers with figures of 3/45. Sohail Khan picked up two wickets in nine overs while Shahif Afridi, Wahab Riaz and Ehsan Adil had one wicket each.
Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 3 wickets in their first warm up game but it’s out of form top order remains a matter of concern.
Pakistan will open their World Cup campaign against India on February 15.
