Flouting ceasefire, Indian troops martyr five Kashmiri youth

SRINAGAR – As many as five Kashmiri youth were martyred as Indian troops unleashed a fresh spasm of violence in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK), on Saturday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian security forces martyred the youngsters during a military operation in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district; the operation is still ongoing.

Tragically, the Indian government had announced a ceasefire in the valley, in respect of Ramazan, a few days back.

The state terrorism in the restive valley has been ongoing for years, however, it was intensified after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Burhan Wani.

Earlier this month, 10 youth were martyred by Indian troops in Shopian district and another was crushed to death by an army vehicle in Noorbagh area, sparking outrage.

In response to the violence, Pakistan’s Senate had unanimously passed a resolution three weeks ago strongly condemning the reign of terror unleashed by Indian forces in IoK.

Statistically, as many as thirty-three Kashmiris, including two young boys, were martyred in occupied Kashmir by the Indian forces in April.

According to the data compiled by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, the martyred locals included one who was gunned down in a fake encounter while four women were widowed and six children were also orphaned.

Besides the casualties, 762 civilians were injured when Indian troops and police personnel resorted to brute force, bullets, pellets, and teargas shelling on protesters.
