ISLAMABAD – In another blow to the currently banned television anchor, Dr Shahid Masood, a civil judge has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the famed journalist.
The warrants were issued by senior Civil Judge Aamir Aziz on Friday, on charges framed by Federal Investigation Agency regarding the alleged embezzlement to the tune of Rs 30.8 million by the seasoned media personality.
Investigation officer Kashif Awan had sought the warrants against Dr Shahid Masood, saying the accused deliberately avoided to join the investigation.
According to FIA sources, Masood inked an agreement with a bogus company for securing the media rights of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), while he was serving as the chairman of Pakistan Television (PTV).
The television anchor reacted to the development by merely saying: Thanks, only ‘this’ was left.

Three-months Ban
Dr Shahid Masood was banned from appearing on Tv for a three-month period on March 20th by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar after his claims regarding the presence on an international pornographic ring in Pakistan were found to be unfounded and baseless.
Masood had made the shocking claims in the pretext of rape and murder of eight-year-old Zainab, who belonged to Kasur district of Punjab.

As investigations were underway, Masood had sought the intervention of the top judge to look into the matter, following which he appeared before the apex court, however, failed to substantiate his claims in successive hearings.
Imposing a ban of three months on ‘Live With Dr Shahid Masood’ hosted by News One, the CJP remarked that the bench would not hand him the death sentence as proposed by himself in his show.
‘Maybe you take the courts lightly. This is not the old judiciary,’ the chief justice remarked, adding that the apex court was working until 7 pm these days.
