Elections will be held on July 25 at any cost, SC suspends LHC order to redraft nomination papers

LAHORE – The Supreme Court on Sunday suspended nullification of nomination papers by Lahore High Court’s (LHC).

During the hearing of a petition filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan and former speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq challenging the high court’s directives to redraft the nomination forms, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar asserted that elections will take place on July 25 as decreed by President Mamnoon Hussain upon recommendation of the electoral body.

The CJP warned that the commission will be held responsible for any delay in the forthcoming polls.
